New Chapter, Here I Come

So… After doing some soul-searching, I decided that I needed to get my act together and get my MCSE Certificate. Considering I’ve been a Linux user and admin for the last 10 years now, this wasn’t an easy decision to come to. BUT, it is one I’ve been thinking about for the last several years.

See, even though I’m a Linux guy, I do realize that for every task, there is a tool that’s best suited for it, and Linux isn’t always the answer. I’d like to believe that, but I’ve seen enough over the last several years to know better.

I’m really looking forward to this because I’ve been interested in learning more about Windows in an Enterprise or Corporate sense for a long time, but was never given the opportunity. I’ve been a part of several companies who encourage internal promotion, but when you have the label of Desktop Support, it’s kinda difficult to move anywhere. Especially when your background is Linux.

Don’t get me wrong – I’m not going to downplay Desktop Support at all. I love doing Desktop support – I love playing with the toys and fixing things. But I would also like skills that would make me more marketable, and this is the time to learn them.

So wish me luck and pray for guidance for me. I’m going to need all the help I can get in staying focused on the task at hand. 🙂

Thanks for visiting and Keep Coming Back!!!

    Go for it! Do you have a plan/timetable of how long it will take you?

    I =believe= it is important to develop for yourself some sort of a timetable with goals at various stages.

    You =can= do it!

    Love ya’!

    I’m hoping somewhere around six to eight weeks for the core components.

  3. Ol' Dad says:

    Dunno how the program is set up, but how about setting a goal of one of the core components every week — or every two weeks?

    Write it down on paper! What do you want to have done by when?

    Check it off as you get there or meet each goal along the way . . . see if you can “beat” the time goals you set for yourself.

    You =can= do it!

    Love ya’
