19 years ago today, I walked – nervously and propelled by blackmail – into my first meeting of Narcotics Anonymous. If I’d known then how much it would change my life for the better, I think I would have found it easier to get and *stay* clean and sober. It took me a while to put a few days together, and even longer to decide that I wanted to stay clean, but eventually I was able to do it. Fortunately for me, I was able to come back the next day after relapses. (My clean date is 1/31/96)
I’m grateful to the ex who blackmailed me into NA. I’m grateful for my family for their understanding in my journey, I’m grateful for my higher power for being there for me, and I’m grateful for the fellowship of NA for making me feel welcome and at home.
I have my recovery story here
Thank you, everybody. It feels good to be clean today!
